Science of the Positive

The OASIS Coalition use the Science of the Positive framework and Positive Community Norms as a foundation for all of our strategies.

We focus on:
-identifying the healthy behaviors and conditions that already exist in order to grow them;
identifying misperceptions about behaviors and attitudes and addressing the gap between those perceptions and what the data tells us.

This does not mean that we walk around with rosy colored glasses. Positive Community Norms is an evidence-based approach that is about telling the truth and balancing hope with concern for the challenges that we are facing. For example, we are hopeful that most of our youth do not drink alcohol, but we are concerned that too many youth drink and drink ways that are extremely risky.
